Summary

Summary
            Assess the understanding of trainees by asking two trainees to come and make the statement
“Change your thoughts and you change the world”
Ask one trainee to make an enthusiastic statement. He/she should look confidently into the plenary, have active body language and shout the statement in loud voice.
Ask another trainee to make an unmotivated statement. He/she should avoid looking into the plenary, head down, and whisper while making the statement.
Ask individual trainees the following questions
-          Tell the message
-          Identify verbal and nonverbal communication
-          Assess whether the nonverbal communication was convincing.
Give your feedback to the trainee’s responses. Appreciate their observations.
Review what we have discussed and found during the session
-          What have you learned about communication?
-          What is important for communicating at work?

-              4 important parts of communication are
o       sender
o       receiver
o       message
o       feedback
-              Verbal and non-verbal communications complement each other
-              Good communication
o       includes positive messaging and listening
o       is active
o       focuses on dialogue, consensus and problem solving
o       does not judge
o       good communication skills reduce misunderstanding and conflict

A good communicator has speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
