Workers’ welfare – First aid appliances,
washing facilities, canteen, shelters, rooms for children, compulsory group
insurance, etc.

Grievance procedures – Any worker who has
grievance in respect of any matter covered under this chapter and intends to
seek redress thereof, shall submit his grievance to his employer, in writing
following certain procedures as mentioned in the labour law.
Industrial relations
- Service book of the
workers – containing information like name of the worker, name
of mother and father and address of the worker, (in appropriate case name of
husband/ wife), date of birth, particulars necessary for identification, period
of employment, occupation or designation, wages and allowance, leave availed,
and conduct of the worker.
- Workers’ benefits – describes the wages to be
paid to the workers, festival and other bonuses, Provident Fund, Gratuity,
Group Insurance, etc.
- Working hours – Daily to yearly working
hours and details thereof, weekly holiday, overtime, etc.
- Leaves – Provisions of leaves are
casual, sick, annual (at least 11 days), etc.
- Maternity benefits and leave – every woman employed in an
establishment shall be entitled to the payment of maternity benefit in respect
of the period of 12 weeks preceding the expected date of her delivery and 12
weeks immediately following the day of her delivery. For the procedural

- Compensation for injury by accidents – There are provisions for payment of
compensation for injury/ victimisation by any kind of accident, which may
result in disablement or death.
- Responsibilities of workers: The duties and responsibilities of
workers are described in their respective job descriptions. These may, however,
be revised from time to time.
- Information service for labour law: Directorate of Labour in Dhaka,
Office of the Magistrate at the district level, concerned work place, etc.
Conclusion
The
Labour Law in Bangladesh has been in use not only for the protection of the
rights and privileges of the workers but also for the improvement of
productivity of the work place ensuring the high performance and right behaviours
of the workers. This ensures a common understanding and collaboration of the
workers and management in the work place.
