Symptoms of HIV

Flu-influenza like symptoms
·       Fever
·       Headache
·       Coughing
·       Chills
·       Fatigue
·       Night sweats

·       Ulcers
·       Rashes
·       Joint Pain
·       Diarrhoea
·       Weight loss
·       Shortness of breath
Note: You can Live with HIV, if you test early and take appropriate medication
           
Explain that if not treated, will lead to AIDS, which is fatal. Symptoms of AIDS include:

·   Rapid and prolonged weight loss
·   Extreme tiredness and weakness
·   Swollen lymphs
·   Ulcers
·   Prolonged diarrhoea
·   Nausea/Vomiting
·   Tuberculosis
·   Pneumonia
·   Tumors
·   Muscle and fat loss
·   Memory loss
AIDS Patients usually die of infections.
Immune system cannot fight back any bacterial/viral infections

Discuss with the trainees the ways how one gets infected by HIV. Highlight that HIV is transmitted.
