Safety Precautions

Explain while at work, anything may go wrong at any time. Employees’ safety and health is important and cannot be neglected. Occupational risks and hazards need to be minimised and controlled so that employees feel safe, remain healthy and productive. To prevent hazards and risks, they must be identified. Safety precautions are crucial and the responsibility of both employer and employee!

Identify hazards from materials, equipment, chemicals and work activities.
Employee must inform his/her supervisor or employer if there are unattended risks

Reinforce that a safe working place not only prevents accidents, but also increases employee’s motivation and leads to better products and services, therefore higher productivity.
Introduce the 5 areas of OSH which need to be learnt.

Home Assignment to Trainees: Request trainees to identify hazards and risks on their way home or in their residence. Ask them to list at least 3 for each of the following categories. What impact does this have on the health of the person/s and how can these risks be prevented?
