Exercise: Tell participants the following story
Reaching your workplace on time is always desirable. Maruf is a garments machine operator who reaches after the start time of the shift. Maruf wants to make a change in his life by solving the problem. Ask trainees “What is his problem? “
Desired condition that Maruf should reach is by 8 a.m. But he reaches at around at 8:30 a.m. So his actual condition he is always late. Maruf wants to make a change in his life by solving the problem. To solve this problem Maruf needs to know the root cause of his problem.
Ask five time why and writing the answers on flip chart, take participants to the root cause of the problem of being late.
1. Why is Maruf late? He wakes up late.
2. Why does he wake up late? He goes to bed late.
3. Why does he go the bed late? He is used to have his dinner after 11 p.m.
4. Why does he have his dinner so late? He does not feel hungry.
5. Why doesn’t he feel hungry? He likes singra, samucha and fried food too much and takes a lot in the afternoon.

So this could be root cause of Maruf’s problem. Then show the following slide or flip chart. Write down the description of problems clearly and easily. Ask ‘Why did the problem happen?’
