Problem Solving through Dialogue
·        Employee communicates grievance to superior/employer to find a solution

·        Enterprises with more than fifty employees should have a participation committee (includes management, workers) to handle grievances.

Introduce why clarifying a task is extremely important to improve dialogue between employee and supervisor/employer. Listening well and asking, in case of lack of clarity about what is expected in more detail can prevent misunderstandings and conflict. Refer to earlier discussions about effective communication and dialogue.

Parveen has worked in a shoe manufacturing unit for over 5 years and is a proud supervisor of over 20 machines. She feels very responsible for her employees and has a great capacity to guide them and explain them how to improve. However, she herself often faces a lot of pressure from the management. They often ask her to do tasks, which are way above her capacity and never give her enough details for these tasks. In the beginning, she felt shy asking for more details to understand the assignment better, which made it difficult to execute the job. She would have to work overtime regularly and made mistakes which gave her a lot of criticism. Over time however, she learnt how to ask questions to clarify the task, sometimes writes the same down and seeks approval from the management before she executes the assignment. She also highlights, how much time it takes and potentially, that she needs to take over time for
