Negative consequences of addiction in the workplace

Having discussed the persons’ challenges when addicted and the impact it has on family and society, ask what will happen in the workplace. An addicted person can become a liability for a company and can affect another person’s job performance and safety.
After that describe the bad effect of drug abuse at workplace using following flip chart.

At work:
·       Poor health
·       Poor performance/productivity
·       Not focused
·       Lack of decision making
·       Low morale, absenteeism
·       Unreliable: safety
·        Security: not trustworthy
Sum up the session highlighting that dependency on any drug or substance significantly changes a person. Addiction needs to be treated and addressed. It is hard but curable.
