Explain Drugs and Substance Abuse 25 Min
Make
four groups. Provide Meta cards to the trainees. Tell them to write down a few
names of drugs they know. Also ask them to write down what impact they have on health,
mental stability and person’s behaviour. Ask them to mention what impact it has
on family, workplace and society.
Ask
them to know how they would deal with an addict. Drug abusers are treated as
the ‘rouge’ of the society. As a result, their issues are avoided and they are
alienated from family and society. Therefore, it is also important to mention
here that the ‘youth’ should also change the mind set of looking at drug users
and try to counsel and cure them rather than dismissing them.
Ask
the groups to present and have an open discussion about people they know who
are drug addicts. Highlight that it is important not to criminalise or
discriminate them but to support them empathetically in coming out of this
harmful habit.
