Tusk 3 Knowing Positive Communication

Knowing Positive Communication                                                     60 Min
Refer to earlier sessions that communication barriers and break down is often a result of negative messages or misunderstandings. Highlight the opportunity of developing bridges by reaching out to the person and trying to reduce misunderstandings and conflict.
Re enforce, how developing bridges can be an effective strategy for good communication. One significant rule to achieve this is the use of positive communication. Ask trainees what they understand under positive communication.

Introduce technique how to move from general negative feedback to situation based positive feedback.  Highlight that one has to avoid general statements like “you always…”, you are…. “You never….”. It is however important to say what one feels and communicate accordingly, otherwise it is a barrier of communication. Ask trainees in the plenary to make positive statements to the listed negative statements on the Flip Chart.
